OUR LADY OF SORROWS / 7 SORROWS OF MARY
During your earthly spiritual journey, you will have times of Joy, times of Sorrow, and times of Spiritual Dryness. Especially during the Dry Season of Prayer turn to Our Lady Of Sorrows and ask Her to keep you company. Some have experienced short periods of Dryness of their Soul, and others, many years of the Dryness of their Soul.
Seven Sorrows of Mary:
1. The prophecy of Simeon
2. The Flight into Egypt
3. The Loss of Jesus for Three Days in the Temple
4. Meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary
5. Jesus’ Crucifixion and Death of Jesus
6. Jesus Taken Down from the Cross
7. Jesus Laid in the Tomb
Promises
1. “I will grant peace to their families.”
2. “They will be enlightened about the divine Mysteries.”
3. “I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.”
4. “I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.”
5. “I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.”
6. “I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother.”
7. “I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.”
St. Jane Frances de Chantal assures us, “The great method of prayer is to have none. If in going to prayer, one can form in oneself a pure capacity for receiving the Spirit of God, that will suffice for all method.”
“Do not leave the altar without first shedding tears of sorrow and love for Jesus, crucified for your eternal salvation. Our Lady of Sorrows will keep you company and inspire you.” St. Padre Pio
Spiritual Empathy
The Mother of God, Mary, Mary Magdeline, and the Apostle John are 3 that received the Spiritual Gift of Empathy. May your Spiritual Heart be also pierced with a Spiritual Dagger in the way that their Spiritual Hearts were pierced. Once you receive this Spiritual Gift you cannot help but shed tears and prayers for all the Children of God of all Religious paths. May you be TRANSFORMED in the Spiritual Light of God.
At Fatima
Five First Saturday devotions. On December 10, 1925, Our Lady and Jesus appeared in the convent in Pontevedra, Spain to Lucia who described the visit
Jesus said: Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them.
mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to Me.
Then the Blessed Virgin Mary said to Lucia: Look, my daughter, at My Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce Me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console Me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen Mysteries with intentions of making Reparation to Me.
FAVORITE DEVOTIONS
The two prayers below are mentioned and recommended to the faithful by Pope Francis in his apostolic letter declaring the Year of St. Joseph.
Pope Francis states:
Every day, for over forty years, following Lauds I have recited a prayer to Saint Joseph taken from a nineteenth-century French prayer book of the Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus and Mary. It expresses devotion and trust, and even poses a certain challenge to Saint Joseph:
Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph,
whose power makes the impossible possible,
come to my aid in these times of anguish and difficulty.
Take under your protection the serious and troubling situations
that I commend to you, that they may have a happy outcome.
My beloved father, all my trust is in you.
Let it not be said that I invoked you in vain,
and since you can do everything with Jesus and Mary,
show me that your goodness is as great as your power. Amen.
Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you, God entrusted his only Son;
in you, Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
