THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES
1. THE ANNUNCIATION– Meditation: When the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her she would be the Mother of Jesus, our Savior, she gave her yes, reflecting the virtue of Humility and O}bedience to God.
Luke 1:38 “I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done unto me.”
2. THE VISITATION– Meditation: Being told by the Angel Gabriel, that her cousin Elizabeth was with child, Mary immediately went to her. Mary embraced the gift of Charity.
Luke 1:39 “Mary set out at once to Judah, in the country where she entered Zachariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth.”
3. THE NATIVITY- Meditation: Mary along with Joseph had traveled the long and difficult journey to Bethlehem embracing the virtue of Poverty since the hour of her delivery was near. With no room in the Inn, she delivered her Son in a stable.
Luke 2:7 “She gave birth to her first-born son, wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manager.”
4. THE PRESENTATION- Meditation: Mary and Joseph present the infant Jesus in the Temple to Simeon and the Prophetess Anna. Simeon affirms the child as the Savior and gives thanks to God for allowing him to live long enough to behold God’s promise.
Luke 2:22 “When the day of purification came, according to the law of Moses, the couple brought him to Jerusalem to be presented to the Lord.”
5. THE FINDING OF OUR LORD IN THE TEMPLE- Meditation: Mary and Joseph had searched for three days before finding Him on the fourth day in discussions with the Temple doctors.
Luke 2:48 “Son, … why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow.”
